- Client Safety
Your client will be able to view these safety suggestions just like you are, they will have to assume you’re taking all these safety measures whether you actually do or not… and that’s a good thing.
Know your client - Explain the rules - Let someone know where you are.
Remember…
- Make sure everyone knows the rules before you go on an appointment.
- These safety suggestions are no good unless you put them into practice.
- Your client should assume you are taking all these steps and more to protect yourself.
- This website or anyone associated with this site shall not be held responsible for your safety, only you are responsible for your safety.
- Please see the disclaimer page for more information.
First contact: e-mail
The only way your client can initially contact you is through the e-mail address that you provided when you signed up and created your Profile Page. When a client first contacts you they will not be able to see your e-mail address, but after receiving an e-mail from a potential client you may choose to e-mail that person back, this is when they will see your e-mail address.
Therefore, you may want to consider using another e-mail address other than your primary e-mail address. This way you can keep these e-mails separate from your other e-mails. In addition, if you start receiving any harassing e-mails you could simply cancel this new e-mail address without having to change your primary one.
Second contact: phone
At some point after the client contacts you via e-mail you’ll end up calling them or having them call you. You may want to consider getting either a new phone or add a second line (phone number) to your existing phone. By having a phone number dedicated to this business it allows you to keep business calls and voice mails separate from your personal calls. And if you ever have a problem with harassing phone calls you could always cancel this second number and get a new one without changing your main number. If this happens, you can let your other clients know about the new number change.
Get your client’s information
Before going on an appointment make sure you have the client’s first and last name, address, directions to their place and a phone number. Some of you may want to take it a step further and ask them to fax a copy of their driver’s license. You may also want to do a background check; there are many services online that can help you with that.
Directions to your client’s place
Your client will give you their address as well as directions to their place. However you may want to use the many mapping programs available on the Internet to confirm the directions. You can download Google Earth for free, just type in the address and it will give you directions from your place to the clients place and you can print the directions out.
Some of you may be traveling by car, taxi, subway or bus, make sure you know the area you’re going to and make sure you have the numbers and schedules of the transportation service you are using.
If you are driving a car to your appointment it would be wise to ask your client about the availability of parking in the area. You may want to consider driving to the client’s place early to find yourself a well lit, safe place to park your car.
One rule to keep in mind
If you don’t feel safe, don’t do it, you are not obligated to go to the client’s place if you don’t feel safe in a peculiar neighborhood, if you can’t find a safe place to park your car, just turn around and go home, call the client and let them know you just didn’t feel safe about it.
Going to the appointment - If wearing a French maid’s outfit or anything similar
Going to your appointment…more than likely you’re not walking out of your place dressed in your French maids outfit.
The first thing to consider is; do you want to change into your outfit at the client’s place?
If you do, you should let your client know that in advance. If not, you need to find a way to hide your outfit under your street clothes and when you arrive at your client’s place you’ll just need to touch-up your outfit.
A suggestion would be to carry a large handbag to hold your apron, duster, hairpiece, high heels, petticoat and any other accessories you might have. Wear loose fitting sweatpants and a loose shirt, sweater or jacket over your maid’s outfit. If you’re wearing a garter belt and stockings, just wear them under your street clothes so you don’t have to change into them later.
Use an answering service:
This is a suggestion, but we strongly urge you to call an answering service and talk to them about it.
The use of an answering service can provide a level of security that otherwise might be hard to come by.
You can find answering services online, you pay a small monthly fee for the service and you could use them in the following manner.
Before you walk up to your client’s door, call your answering service, you’ll be talking to a real person, let them know you are about to enter a client’s home and you want to leave some information with them. Tell your answering service the client’s name, address and phone number, mention the front door is a certain color or it’s on the 3rd floor of an apartment complex or the house is painted brown, stuff like that. Let them know you have an appointment that starts at 7:00 and you should be out of the appointment by 8:30.
What you should set up with your answering service is that; if you don’t call them back by say, 8:35, they’ll make two attempts to call you back, if you don’t answer, they are instructed to call the police and give them the address and all the information on your client.
As the appointment comes to an end and before you leave the client’s place, we suggest you call the answering service in front of your client and let them know you’re OK.
We also suggest that you have two passwords with your answering service, the answering service will ask you for a password, one password means that everything really is OK, the other password means you’re not ok and to send help right away. When going back to the same client on another appointment, you’ll want to change passwords.
The reason we suggest calling the answering service in front of the client when the appointment is over is really for the client’s benefit. You’re calling to say you're ok, so now there’s a record of it; it would be hard for the client to be accused of any wrong doing if you’re calling and saying everything is fine.
The bottom line here is calling someone, a friend, even your own answering machine, give your client the impression you’re checking in with someone.
Should you bring someone with you?
If you can, it would be a good idea to have someone waiting for you in your car; this way someone close by knows exactly where you are and what time you’re expected back. It would be a good idea to have that person in the car (or anyone else) call you five minutes after you arrive at the client’s place. This lets the client know that another person knows where you are, and that’s a good thing.
Another way of increasing your safety level is to find another French maid working in your area and work together on some appointments. The idea is safety in numbers. Check with your client to see if it would be alright to bring another French maid to help out. Of course you should not charge the client for the second maid if you are bringing her for safety reasons. The idea here is its better to make, say $50.00 per hour and feel safe rather than making $100 per hour and not feel safe. And it’s not a bad deal for your clients; they get two French maids for the price of one. One can serve drinks while the other is cleaning up the place, just something to consider.
Please use good judgment and common sense.
You would like to hire a beautiful woman dressed in a sexy French maid’s outfit to come to your place to clean, cook or provide some other service. The French maid certainly has some safety concerns of her own, but the client should consider the following.
False Accusations
Some clients may be concerned that the French maid they hired may falsely accuse them of some type of abuse. What we’re suggesting the client do is to record the appointment, not so much video record it, but for a small investment they can buy a small digital voice recorder.
A client could place one of these small digital voice recorders by the front door, we would suggest that the client record his name, date and time before he opens the door and meets his French maid, and then with the recorder still going record her as she arrives, and as she leaves. The client may want to place another recorder in a second location just to play it safe. This way the client has a record of the appointment and it can show that everything went well without any problems.
Theft
Just to play it safe we would suggest that all valuables be placed in an area where you know the French maid will not be going. Do not leave any money, credit cards, jewelry or passports in an area where your maid can find them. You may want to consider removing some or all your medication from wherever you keep them and place them in a safe and out of the way place.
Conduct
Regardless of the reasons you hire a French maid, you should allows conduct yourself in a gentleman like way. We would suggest keeping the consumption of alcohol to a minimum or none at all. Please don’t ask your maid for sex and although you may enjoy the view, please no touching.
Use good judgment and common sense.
